Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Ambassador of Afghanistan to Russia Seyed Jawad plays a game of chess

On February 4, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Russia, Mr Seyed Jawad, met at the opening ceremony of the Roscongress Chess Cup.

That is what Kirsan Nikolayevich told about this meeting: “I met the newly appointed Ambassador of Afghanistan to the Russian Federation. We played a game of chess and discussed my upcoming visit to Kabul.
Mr Ambassador plays chess very well. The meeting turned out to be not only fruitful, but also just pleasant.”

Editor’s note: Seyed Jawad is an Afghan politician and diplomat. Until recently, he served as Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. From December 2003 to September 2010, he was Ambassador to the United States. He has also served as non-resident ambassador to Mexico, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. From 2002 to 2003, he was the chief of staff of former Afghan President Hamid Karzai. From September 3, 2020, he is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Russia.
