Kirsan Ilyumzhinov’s greetings on the feast of the Assumption

On February 15, Orthodox Christians celebrated the Feast of the Assumption, one of the main religious holidays. First President of Kalmykia, sixth President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulated Orthodox Christians on this sacred day.

“According to the Gospel, on the fortieth day after the birth of Jesus, the Virgin Mary and Joseph brought the baby to the temple in Jerusalem to dedicate it to God, according to Old Testament custom.
In the temple, the Infant Jesus was met by the righteous elder Simeon who was one of the most educated people of his time. When the righteous Simeon opened the book of the prophet Isaiah, he read the words: "This Virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son". He wondered if a virgin may give birth. He was about to insert the word "wife" instead of the word "Virgo" when an angel appeared to him and, holding his hand, said that Simeon would not die until he witness the fulfilment of the prophecy.

Simeon took the baby in his arms, blessed it and said: “Lord, you now have set your servant free to go in peace as you have promised;
For these eyes of mine have seen the Saviour whom you have prepared for all the world to see,
A Light to enlighten the nations, and the glory of your people Israel”.
Thus, the righteous Simeon met the Infant Jesus. We must remember that even the longest life without meeting God is meaningless.
God bless us all! On this holiday I want to wish everyone health, well-being, happiness and God's help in all good deeds! ”
