On March 22, first President of Kalmykia, sixth President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Beirut, the capital of the Lebanese Republic, on a friendly visit. He has planned meetings with friends and business partners, but the main purpose of the visit is to celebrate one of the most important Muslim holidays - Navruz.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in his video, which you can watch on our main page, noted the beauty of the Lebanese capital. Beirut is now sparsely populated. As Ilyumzhinov noted, this is probably due to the explosion in the capital's port, which occurred in Beirut last summer.
Japanese and Indian scientists believe that this explosion disrupted the planet's ionosphere. The incident near the port in Beirut was recognized as one of the largest non-nuclear explosions that occurred due to the human error. Because of the disaster, hundreds of people died, thousands were injured and were left homeless. The shockwave was felt all over the world.
