Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's working trip to Lebanon continues

On March 30, first President of Kalmykia, sixth President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was in Beirut. The programme of the friendly visit to the Lebanese Republic turned out to be more eventful with business meetings than Ilyumzhinov had originally anticipated.

In his free time, he walks around Beirut, enjoying the beauty of Lebanese Paris (as European tourists call Beirut). He visited the port, where, as we remember, there was a terrible explosion in August last year.

The incident near the port in Beirut was recognized as one of the largest non-nuclear explosions. Because of the disaster, hundreds of people died, thousands were injured and left homeless. The shockwave was felt all over the world. Now, as Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said, all local buildings have been renovated.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov shared a video from the seaport of Beirut (you can watch it on the home page of our website). “Beirut is building up and it’s hard to say now that the explosion caused colossal damage to the embankment. Life goes on as usual. Beirut is recovering,” Ilyumzhinov said.
