On April 30, my great friend, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, Azad Rahimov, passed away. Unfortunately, I learned late about the death of this wonderful man, since I am still in Beirut.

I want to note that Azad Arif oglu Rahimov made a huge contribution to the development of Azerbaijani sports and world chess. Thanks to him, in 2016 the 42nd World Chess Olympiad was held in Baku and was recognized as one of the best in the history of FIDE.
I believe that Azerbaijani sport has suffered an irreparable loss. Azad Rahimov died suddenly at the age of 57. So sad. I have lost a worthy, very kind and helpful friend.
This is a great loss for all of us. I express my condolences to his family and friends. Blessed is the memory of our Friend!
