Ilyumzhinov: On the Day of Memory and Sorrow, we remembered those who gave their lives for their Motherland

On June 22, we recalled one of the most terrible days in the history of the country - the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. 80 years have passed since then. This day forever changed the fate of all peoples of the country. This date went down in the history of the Fatherland as the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, the beginning of the most cruel and bloody war.

On June 22, 1941, the German fascist invaders treacherously attacked the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. We will always remember what our country had to endure, what pain and suffering the peoples of the USSR endured.
Every year, on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, we remember those who remained on the battlefields of the most terrible war of the 20th century - the Great Patriotic War. Her best sons and daughters stood up to defend the Motherland. They defended our right to a peaceful life. Their peaceful life was tragically interrupted on June 22, 1941.

The Great Patriotic War was a huge test, but our country withstood and won. The Soviet army protected not only its country, but the whole world from fascism. The price of victory was incredibly high! 27 million citizens of the USSR gave their lives for their homeland. Eternal memory to those who died in the Great Patriotic War!
