Business meetings with the Minister of Investment and the Minister of Economy were also held today. A wide range of issues were discussed from joint business projects in Sri Lanka to humanitarian ones.
On August 31, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov flew from Qatar to Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon) on a working visit. It is interesting that in translation from Sanskrit Sri Lanka means "glorious, blessed land."
There Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Percy Mahinda Rajapaksa. Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa was the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka from 2005 to 2015. In 2011, Ilyumzhinov already met with Mr Rajapaksa, then the President of Sri Lanka.
