Ilyumzhinov congratulates the older generation on the International Day of Older Persons

October 1 is International Day of Older Persons. Since 1991, this holiday has been celebrated all over the world; it entered the calendar of significant dates at the 45th session of the UN General Assembly.

The first President of Kalmykia, sixth President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov congratulated the older generation, veterans of the chess movement, war and labour veterans of Kalmykia:
“Dear veterans of the older generation! I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart! We owe a lot to you, who survived and won in the difficult years of war and hardship, who defended peace and freedom, who made a huge contribution to the restoration and development of the economy.

You have had difficult times in the end of last century as well. These are the years of perestroika and the turbulent 90s. Thank you for your work, for your bright mission, for your inexhaustible vitality and spirituality. You have always generously given us your love, care and attention, you have become the best parents and grandparents. The dearest people to whom we still turn for wise advice, help and support.

Low bow to you, honour and praise! Today is your holiday. Let me sincerely wish you good luck and happiness. May your life be long and flow like a full river. May fate always be favourable to you. I wish you endurance, patience and all earthly blessings. Never lose heart, always be cheerful and confident. May your life be bright, filled only with pleasant events and may there always be loving and caring children, grandchildren and friends with you."
