A festive prayer service dedicated to the Descent of Buddha Shakyamuni from the heaven of the Thirty-three gods to earth to be held in the Central Khurul of Kalmykia

On October 27 at 9 am, a festive prayer service dedicated to the Descent of Buddha Shakyamuni from the heaven of the Thirty-three gods to earth will take place in the Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni Central Khurul of Kalmykia.

In the Tibetan tradition of Buddhism, Lhabab Duchen is a holiday dedicated to one of the most significant events for Buddhists. It marked the return of the Enlightened Buddha Shakyamuni to Earth from the heavenly world of the Thirty-three gods, where he went at the 38th year of his life to teach the Dharma to his mother Mahamaya ("Great Maya" in Sanskrit) and gods.
Buddha Shakyamuni spent three months in the heaven of the Thirty-three gods, and when the inhabitants of the earth asked him to return to them, the Buddha decided to return to earth. For this, the divine architect Vishwakarma made a staircase along which the Buddha descended to the town of Sankassa and was greeted by sixteen closest disciples (Arhats). On second holiday day, Buddhist lamas devote special rituals to them, praise and thank them for the good deed on behalf of all those who follow the path of the Teaching.

According to the monks, effects of all deeds on this day increase hundreds of millions of times, so it is important to do good that will allow you to accumulate a large amount of merit.

Lhabab Duchen is also the day of honouring mothers. Here we see a real example of the grateful, attentive attitude of Buddha Shakyamuni, as a son, to his mother Mahamaya, who ended her earthly existence early. This is a story about the important role of mother in every person’s life. That corresponds to the Buddhist idea of the interconnectedness of all living beings in the common wheel of samsara, where anyone could be our mother in past reincarnations. It is from mothers that children receive a precious human birth, thanks to which they can realize themselves on Earth.
