On January 30, the great Russian grandmaster Boris Spassky celebrates his 85th birthday. The sixth FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov sent his best wishes to the 10th World Chess Champion on his birthday:

“Dear Boris Vasilyevich! Please accept my best wishes on your birthday. It has been a huge honour to meet you. I am proud for your master classes in the Chess City chess palace for our young chess players that instilled in children a love for the ancient game.
I would like to say what I have already said many times: you are a real national treasure, a witness and one of the main participants in the great chess battles, one of the brightest representatives of the Golden Age of the Soviet and Russian chess.
