FIDE holds the Fischer Chess Championship

The President FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov continues to surprise the fans of chess. "In 2016 we decided to carry out a number of major tournaments. One of these will be the Fischer Chess Championship to be held in memory of the US outstanding grand master", said Ilyumzhinov.

The reader will recall that the head of FIDE was familiar with Bobby Fischer and even paid him the fee of 100 thousand dollars (from his personal funds) for the book, which had been published in the Soviet Union without the permission of the author.

For reference, Fischer Chess (Chess960 or Fischer-Random Chess) is the chess variant proposed by the American 11th World Champion Robert Fischer. The rules are basically similar to the rules of classical chess. However, the pieces are placed at the semi-random starting board position. The opening has 960 positions.
