The head of FIDE congratulates veterans on Victory Day

Dear veterans! Please accept my warmest and most heartfelt congratulations on this sacred holiday for all of us - the Victory in the Great Patriotic War!

The most terrible and bloody war in human history ended on 9th of May 1945. The best sons and daughters of the homeland stood up for it in those terrible years. They saved out right to live in peace 71 years ago. Their victory will forever remain a symbol of justice, courage, fortitude and selfless service to the Fatherland.

This great holiday is both joyful and sorrowful. Today we honour the veterans of war, labour who brought victory, and mourn those who did not live up to it and are not with us today. We cannot betray the feat of our fathers and grandfathers. We must not forget the high price they paid for this victory!
Dear veterans! Your immortal feat will always live in the memory of humankind as an example of valour, courage and devotion to the Motherland!
We are irredeemably indebted to you. Let me express a deep obeisance to you!
