In the near future Kirsan Ilyumzhinov will examine the documents sent to him after he had filed a lawsuit against the inclusion of his persona in the sanctions list.
"The US Treasury confirmed that original of the administrative case was sent to me in June. I was provided with the receipt number to obtain the documents. I would like to see what they have written. The further course of actions would depend on it," said Ilyumzhinov to the National News Service.
"I have signed contracts with two law firms engaged in the lawsuit, and I regularly meet with them. According to US law, only American lawyers can defend foreigners. They submit an application to the U.S. Department of Justice, and may start the proceedings after receiving respective permission only," said the president of FIDE.
