Kirsan Ilyumzhinov personally responds to the US Treasury claims

The President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, who was included in the sanctions list of the US, is going to personally respond to the claims of the US Treasury in Washington. In particular, Ilyumzhinov said that he was ready for a possible arrest.

"Today, I will fly to Washington and on Friday plan to give my answer to the US Treasury claims about my relations with the leaders of Syria," said the head of FIDE to Interfax agency. "I am sure I am right and I am convinced that the US Treasury will exclude me from the sanctions list," he said.

"According to my American lawyers, there are three scenarios: first - I would not be allowed to enter the United States, second - I would be arrested, and the third - I would pass the border control. The is no fourth option," said Ilyumzhinov. "I'm ready for any of these options, however, I am sure that common sense will prevail, and my personal presence in the United States will help to clear up the misunderstanding," said the President of FIDE.
You should take into consideration that the President of the International Chess Federation has been included in the sanctions list in November 2015. He said he did not agree with this decision and has filed a lawsuit in the US Supreme Court. Earlier Ilyumzhinov expressed his willingness to undergo a polygraph test.
