Ilyumzhinov: "The next match for the world championship will be held in Asia"

Two Asian countries have applied to host in 2018 the match for the title of Men’s World Chess Champion as reported by Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

"We have two offers from the Asian region, which is very good. They were made by large and technologically advanced countries. And I am somewhat even surprised, because these countries did not play big role in the chess world before," said the President of FIDE.

"I cannot call them before signing the contracts. The decision will be taken in the spring at the FIDE Presidential Board. But I can say for sure that these are not China or Qatar," said Ilyumzhinov.
