"The player from FIDE’s current top-30 list is capable of winning the (World Chess Cup) tournament and be granted a berth in the Candidates Tournament," FIDE president added.
On August 30, TASS hosted a press conference of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov dedicated to the 2017 World Chess Cup.
"The prize fund of the tournament is about $1 million. The current champion Magnus Carlsen admitted that the knockout system is the most honest and democratic way to determine the best chess player. Therefore, he will come to Tbilisi and participate in the tournament", FIDE President said.
