The Russian Football Notables Support Ilyumzhinov

The new President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) should have experience like Michel Platini and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in managing the large association,. This opinion was expressed by the Deputy Executive Director of the Moscow football club ‘Dynamo’ Alexey Smertin.
It’s worth reminding that Alexey Smertin is the former captain of the Russian national football team, the participant of the 2002 World Cup and the 2004 European Championship. In 1997 and 1998 he played for the Elista team ‘Ural’ when the honorary President of the club was Ilyumzhinov.

«FIFA is in a difficult position today; the Association needs someone capable to improve the situation. I cannot talk about all the candidates, being personally familiar with Michel Platini and Kirsan Ilyumzhinov only. I can confidently say that both of them are worthy of this position. They have all the necessary qualities. They are strong, purposeful, wise and have the experience of managing the large federations for many years. I will not try to predict who will be the new President of FIFA, but I'm sure he would help the organization to manage the crisis «, commented on the situation Smertin.
Meanwhile, the honorary President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), the former Vice President of FIFA Vyacheslav Koloskov said that the head of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov should run for the President of FIFA if he was sure that he has a real chance of success only.
«Ilyumzhinov gained the great experience after being the head of the chess Federation for a very long time. He must decide for himself whether he should run for the President of FIFA. If he has a strong belief that he is really capable to compete for this position he should give it a try «- stressed Koloskov.
