Grandchildren's Tournament: distance is no obstacle

Immediately after a post on our website, an email addressed to Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was sent to us from Belgorod. We are happy to publish it.

“Dear Kirsan Nikolaevich! I read on your website that today it’s time to organize chess competitions over the Internet, and that you propose holding tournaments between countries and continents. What an interesting offer!

We in our family decided not to put off this matter and hold our so-called Grandchildren Cup. Our granddaughter Marina lives in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and grandson Timofey lives in Belgorod. This year Marina will go to first grade, but she loves chess and she knows how to play it. Timofey in the fourth grade and he enjoys chess.

Yesterday we held a match. The players did not mind that the grandfather would be the arbiter of the competition; everything was strictly according to the rules. Experience triumphed. Timofey took the lead in this game. But who will get the Grandchildren Cup is not yet clear. Marina is training, getting ready for the next game. I think Timothy should not relax, his rival is very determined.
Thank you, Kirsan Nikolaevich, for this idea. Our whole family is following the tournament with great attention, the main fights are yet to come.
