Ilyumzhinov: "The calm and reserved people should play chess"

There was a fighting during the "Nikolay Shelest Memorial" in Ukraine. The Country Champion Anastasia Rakhmangulova made a mistake and could lose the game. As a response, her rival Vladimir Sakun began to make weak moves. The Coach Michael Gerasimenyuk considered disrespectful the tactics of Sakun to his marked player and attacked him.

According to the President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, he had never faced such incidents.

"There were no such cases in 20 years of my experience. However, there is the appeal committee if something happens. If they cannot make a decision, the aggrieved party may apply to the FIDE Ethics Commission. However, the fighting has not been considered yet", stated Ilyumzhinov.
"Chess is the game, which should be played by smart, calm and composed people. The most important principle of chess is ‘think first and then make a move", said the head of FIDE.
