"It is possible that for the first time the Ukrainians would not go to the World Chess Olympiad to be held in September in Baku", said the head of FIDE.
The international boycott threatens the Ukrainian chess players. "It is not connected with the politics. There is debt, which has still not been paid after the match for the title of the World Chess Champion held in Lviv" – stated the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
According to him, "In case 60 thousand dollars would not be paid to FIDE until the end of the month, the organization will suspend ratings of Ukrainian chess players and will not allow them to participate in competitions".
