Ilyumzhinov: 'Baku Chess Olympiad will be the largest in history"

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov announced that the 42th World Chess Olympiad to be held in Baku this autumn may well be the largest in history.
By the way, the leading sports media have calculated that more players will visit the capital of Azerbaijan than the anniversary of the 40th Olympiad-which was held in Istanbul in 2012 and Tromsø (Norway) 2014, that brought together players from 177 countries.

Let us also recall that Baku will gather more than two and a half thousand GMs at the Olympic chess boards, which would an absolute record.
