The head of FIDE: "Chess necessary for the harmonious development of a child"

FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited the state television and radio company "Lipetsk". He told listeners how chess craze has helped him to achieve success in life, and why everyone needs this game.

"We are introducing chess in schools not in order to make everyone a world champion but for the harmonious development of a child. Children learn better and their educational progress increase by 40% in schools where chess are being actively implemented," said Ilyumzhinov.

The interview with FIDE President will be shown on the programme "Apropos" on TV channel "Russia 1" at 8.10 am on Saturday, August 13 and on TV channel "REN" at 6.15 pm on Sunday.
