A spokesman for the President of Russia and the chairman of the Russian Chess Federation Board of Trustees Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian Chess Federation supports Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in his post of the President of the World Chess Federation.

"Ilyumzhinov very effectively fulfills his duties as FIDE President in terms of organizing the world championships and the tournaments of other levels as well as popularizing the sport of chess," he stressed.
