Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had a working meeting with the Lipetsk Region Governor Oleg Korolev today. During the talks, which were also attended by Deputy Governor Yury Taran and Head of the Department of Sports Vladimir Dementiev, the parties discussed the prospects of development of chess. After that, the FIDE President spoke at a local TV show.
Let us recall that the Lipetsk region has created conditions for teaching children of 44 schools how to play chess, within the framework of "Chess in Schools" project.
The issues of staff and resource support for the project have currently been solved. More than 40 teachers underwent training. The region has had a good tradition of training players, as evidenced by their success in the competitions and superior sports titles: grandmasters, international masters, FIDE masters.
