On November 26, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived in Bucharest. The traditional Kings Chess tournament will be held there. The city of Medias will be the venue of the match between Vladimir Kramnik and Hou Yifan dedicated to the memory of the Romanian chess player Elisabeta Polihroniade.Afterwards, Ilyumzhinov met with young players, and then spoke at the soiree in the memory of Elisabeta Polihroniade, where the ceremony of drawing of lots for the match between Kramnik and Hou Yifan took place.
The event was attended by the Executive Director of FIDE Nigel Freeman, management of the Chess Federation of Romania, representatives of the sponsor – Romgaz Company and by friends and colleagues of Polihroniade. The film, which tells about 10 years history of the Kings Chess tournaments, was shown.
Speakers noted the outstanding features of Elisabeta’s talent as a chess player, organizer, journalist and public figure.
