On August 21, the Sports and Recreation Minister of Zimbabwe Makhosini Hlongwane hosted a reception in honour of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, who is on a working visit to Harare.The next day, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited the arbiters’ seminar that was headed by the tournament’s chief arbiter Hasan Khaled. Later, he made a speech to youth camp members and local journalists in the small town of Hwange.
On August 23, major sports functionaries met with head of FIDE, including President of Uganda Chess Federation Emmanuel Mwaka, Zonal President, ACC treasurer Stephen Kisuze, representative of Kenya Chess Federation Terence Chazima, President of Malawi Chess Federation Kezzie Msukwa, Zonal President, President of Cameroon Chess Federation Michel Viang and President of Namibian School of Finance Otto Nakapunta.
Later, Ilyumzhinov met with the ACC board members and told them about the activities and future plans of «Chess for Peace – Kirsan Foundation» charity foundation that he had established in Africa. Then he visited the School Championship and watched a game.
Finally, accompanied by Sports Minister of Zimbabwe, head of FIDE went to Victoria waterfall and took a souvenir photo with the crew commander Elizabeth Petrous in the aircraft cabin.
