On September 27-29, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made an official visit to China. He, together with the famous Spanish lecturer and journalist Leontxo Garcia and ex-world champion Xie Jun, attended a seminar of FIDE Chess in Schools Commission in Chongqing.Ilyumzhinov delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony attended by President of Chinese Chess Association Yang Junan and the head of International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) Chen Zelan. Later, he made the first symbolic move on the chessboard.
Incidentally, 14 children's teams from 12 countries took part in the tournament, including China, Singapore, Qatar, Iran, USA, Canada, France, Hungary, Poland, India, Australia and Russia.
