Kirsan Ilyumzhinov meetings in Moscow

On December 14, in Moscow, President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with head of Chechnya, Hero of Russia Ramzan Kadyrov and State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov.

As you know, Ramzan Kadyrov is President of Chess Federation of the North Caucasus Federal District. They love and know how to play chess in Chechnya. That's why Ramzan Kadyrov, besides practicing power sports, pays attention to the ancient game on daily basis.

Ilyumzhinov and Kadyrov have longstanding friendly relations, as one might say, inherited from the father of Chechen Republic head Akhmat Kadyrov. The issues of promotion of the ‘Chess in Schools’ programme as well as other important topics were discussed during the meeting. At the invitation of Chechen Republic head, FIDE President plans to visit Grozny in the near future.
On the same day, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov attended the New Year chess tournament at MGIMO. Representatives of the diplomatic corps, students and teachers, alumni and guests competed in the chess club of future diplomats.
Ilyumzhinov warmly communicated with his classmate, MGIMO teammate Konstantin Ashin. Incidentally, the oldest participant of the tournament was a graduate of 1960 -- 88-year-old Alexander Altukhov, who showed youthful enthusiasm and unlimited cheerfulness of spirit by his victories in several games. The VGTRK holding was represented by international grandmaster Elmira Mirzoyeva.
The day ended in the Insight restaurant located on the 85th floor of OKO Tower in Moscow City. A regular meeting of the YPO-Russia Club dedicated to chess was held there.
YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) was founded by Ray Hickok in New York in 1950 and initially gathered 20 participants. To qualify for membership, a person must be not younger than 45 years old; his company's sales volume should be no less than $10 million and have at least 50 staff.
Now it is a worldwide club with branches in various countries. Its members are young business leaders, owners and company executives. Sergei Karyakin and Maria Fominykh were the special guests of that chess session.
FIDE President warmly greeted the participants and made the first move. After the session, professional chess players Maria Fominykh and Sergey Karyakin demonstrated their skills in blitz chess.
