Ilyumzhinov visited Armenia

October 23-24, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made a working visit to Armenia. On the first day of his stay in Yerevan, he visited the Chess Academy, led by vice-president of the Chess Federation of the country, the grandmaster Smbat Lputyan. There Ilyumzhinov made a speech at the refresher courses for the teaching of chess. In Armenia chess is a compulsory subject in the school curriculum.

Then Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with Armenian President, the head of the Chess Federation of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. The sides discussed issues of mutual cooperation. In addition, Ilyumzhinov told about the results of the last Congress of the FIDE, World Cup in Baku and the FIFA World Rapid and Blitz Championship in Berlin.
October 24 Ilyumzhinov was the guest of the 3rd international forum of MGIMO graduates. After that, the head of FIDE attended the official dinner on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, which was attended, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan, Minister of Justice of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Ha Hung Cuong, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia Hang Chuon Naron.
Then Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, rector of MGIMO Anatoly Torkunov and political scientist Andranik Migranyan attended the opening of the exhibition devoted to the 200th anniversary of the Lazarev Institute, initiated the study of Oriental Sciences in Russia.
At the end of the visit, the head of FIDE gave an interview to the Russian TV channel "Vesti-24".
