The Queen’s Gambit’ being turned into stage musical

The American company Level Forward has acquired the rights to theatrical production of Walter Tevis' novel "The Queen's Gambit".

CEO Adrienne Becker and producer Julia Dunetz explained: "The story is a siren call amidst our contemporary struggles for gender and racial equity, and we’re looking forward to moving the project forward."

Level Forward was founded by Walt Disney's grandnephew. Who will play Beth Harmon on stage is still unknown. Meanwhile, on International Women's Day, as 8 March is called in some countries, FIDE announced that 2022 would be declared the "Year of Women in Chess."
