In particular, Ilyumzhinov stressed that the program "Chess in Schools" is a priority for FIDE. Therefore, during all the trips and meetings with leaders of various countries his agenda has a point about the possibility of incorporating chess into the school curriculum.
"The Moscow authorities have been very supportive: it was recently announced that from the next academic year an estimate of the capital's schools performance ranking will be evaluated by the presence of chess as a subject in their curriculum," said Ilyumzhinov.
After the official speeches, the multiplayers tournament was held with the students of the school participated by the grandmaster Artyom Akhmetov. The FIDE President was privileged to make the first moves for white.
By the way, in addition to the municipal authorities, the program "Chess in Schools" decided to support the charity fund AFK "System" (The Chairman of which isTatyana Gvilava). It was decided that the program will become the part of a large-scale fund project called "Lift to the Future", which aims at supporting talented Russian youth, especially in the field of education. Another equally important partner of FIDE is JSC "TogliattiAzot."
Later Ilyumzhinov arrived at the tournament "Chess Boulevards", which was co-organized by the Centre of Physical Culture and Sports of the Central Administrative District of Moscow. Several pavilions near the monument to the great Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff were set where the outdoor chess took action. By the way, FIDE President played a game of chess with the head of the Moscow Chess Federation Vladimir Palikhata.
The celebration continued in the walls of the chess club of the Law Faculty of Moscow State University. The club was opened last year, but has already become a significant point on the chess map of Moscow, especially after one of the world's top grandmasters Sergey Karyakin joined its activity. So on that very day he performed the multiplayers tournament. However, first Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the dean of the Law Faculty Alexander Golichenkov and the head of the club Alexander Korneev welcomed those present.
Then Kirsan Ilyumzhinov became the guest of "Etude" chess school in the district Otradnoye, where the one of the stages of the Cup of Moscow chess take place. It should be mentioned that this club was founded 27 years ago and has brought many famous players. For example, it tutored the current European champion Evgeny Naer. Currently, about 750 children are trained there.
