Ilyumzhinov visits St. Petersburg

On June 21, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has made a brief visit to St. Petersburg, where he held a meeting with the Vice Governor of the Northern Capital Igor Albin. The meeting took place at the football stadium, which is currently under construction for the World Cup 2018.

Later, at the invitation of the rector - the Nobel Prize winner Zhores Alferov, Ilyumzhinov took part in the joint meeting of the Academic Council and the Presidium of St. Petersburg National Research Academic University of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

During the event, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics Professor Steven Chu (USA) and academician Vladislav Panchenko of the Russian Academy of Sciences were awarded diplomas and badges of the honorary PhD of the Academic University.
After the official part, a commemoration photograph was taken of the head of FIDE and Mikhail Dubina – the First Pro-rector of the University and the youngest academician in the world as well as with his Kalmyk countrywoman Anna Yudenko. She has graduated from Elista’s school No. 18 and currently is working as a Junior Researcher of the nanobiotechnology lab, engaged in the development of space research.
