Then the President of FIDE, together with the deputy of the State Assembly of Sakha (Yakutia) Republic Yuri Nikolayev, proceeded to the tournament hall, where he observed the peripteries of the game of chess.
Afterwards, Ilyumzhinov spoke at the International Scientific Conference "ISI" Children of Asia", which serves to promote the ideas of Olympism and training of sports reserve. This event, in particular, was attended by the head of the department of Olympic education OCD Alexander Kontanistov; Deputy Minister of Sport of the Russian Federation Marina Tomilova; State Duma deputy Marat Bariev; head of Yakutia Yegor Borisov; head of UNESCO's Division of Youth and Sports; Alexander Shishlik and the President of the international Committee of the Children of Asia Games Dmitry Glushko.
"Chess was recognized as sport only at the meeting of the IOC in Seoul in 1999. I must say that the sport is not just the strength exercises but also an intellectual work. The ancient Greeks said that that sport was the combination of strength and intelligence. Unfortunately, Kalmykia team does not participate in the VI Children of Asia Games. Nevertheless, I am glad that the programme of competitions includes chess. This contributes to the expansion of the boundaries, improvement of competitions standards, attraction of interest in the ancient game," said the president of FIDE.
After the conference, Ilyumzhinov visited the Treasury of the Republic of Sakha Exhibition (including the Kingdom of permafrost museum), attended the meeting of the head of Yakutia with the leaders of delegations of the Games, as well as the reception hosted on behalf of the Republic's leader.
By the way, at the end of the official part, a commemoration photograph was taken of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and his Kalmyk countrywoman - Kema Solovyova, who works as a chief executive at the reception room of the First Deputy of the Vice Manager of administration and the government of Yakutia.
