On 11 July; FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov held talks with Mehdi Riahi Pharma - executive director of the insurance company Hafez Insurance during the second day of his stay in Tehran.Mehdi Riahi made the first move on the chessboards for boys and girls up to 17 years old in the tournament hall. The heads of the Iranian and Mongolian Chess Federations Merhdad Pahlevanzade and Sainbayar Tserendorj accompanied the guests.
Afterwards, Ilyumzhinov met with Wahid Siddiqui – the President of the largest telecommunications company in the Middle East - the Mobile Communications Company of Iran. It was agreed that MCI will provide sponsorship to the Chess Federation of Iran in the "Chess in Schools project", and would also explore options for constant cooperation with FIDE.
