The Dalai Lama reveals the secret of how to stop being anxious and start living

The 14th Dalai Lama, during the spiritual teachings for Buddhists from Russia and the Baltic countries that took place in Riga on 16-18 June, said that happiness to any person is not the fulfillment of desires but the "peace of mind", which will be achieved by compassion and altruism.

"A person brought up in a materialistic value system will want more and more. Unrestrained desires destroy both humankind and the environment, and this does not bring happiness to anyone. Happiness comes when the mind is calm and when there is peace in the soul. Therefore, it is so important to train your mind," the great Teacher said.

According to the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, negative emotions such as envy, anger and a craving for competition, "carry suffering with them".
