The President of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) to challenge the decision of the Ethics Commission

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov will challenge the decision of the FIDE Ethics Commission. In his opinion, this case is a political order of the United States. In an interview with Tsargrad TV he said that on 24 November 2015, he was included in the US Treasury sanction list, which was the reason for the subsequent attacks against him.

"I said that the federation unites 188 countries, and it will be illegal if every ministry removes anyone from office. There is a rule of law, and if a person is not in prison or a mental hospital he can occupy any post, "Kirsan Ilyumzhinov stressed.

"Therefore, I think it's illegal when three members of the Ethics Commission made a decision under the pressure of some Western countries – possibly, the USA. There is no legal basis for this. In 2014, I was elected by 110 countries and only 61 countries voted for Garry Kasparov. I was elected for four years; my term expires in October 2018. I will fulfil my duties," he said.
Ilyumzhinov said that he would apply to the international arbitration court, since he believes that this story, which was "orchestrated by Americans", has a political background.
"It's political. The Americans pressurized," Kirsan Ilyumzhinov said.
