Kommersant asked politicians and entrepreneurs if they work during vacations. Zakharova, Ilyumzhinov, Kandelaki and others commented.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, entrepreneur, the head of the Republic of Kalmykia in 1993-2010, FIDE President in 1995-2018:
- Since 1989, when I graduated from MGIMO and went to work in a Russian-Japanese joint venture, I have not been on vacation even once. After finishing work as the head of Kalmykia, I drew up my dismissal. An accountant came up to me and handed me a wad of money. Seeing my surprise, she said: "This is compensation for unused vacation for 18 years!"
It's not that I'm a workaholic, I just like my job. And constant switching from one case to another helped from overwork. For example, I deal with the problem of gasification in Kalmykia for some time and then concentrate on the organization of another chess tournament or just play chess.
